For you doesn’t upgrade to WP 2.7 here’s another reason to do it. WP 2.7 come with QuickPress by default (no plugin instalation needed). To put it simple, QuickPress is a Dashboard Box with a Form to input your post without getting your hands to it’s post editor.
The main advantage is, QuickPress enable you to post without any hassle of changing admin page, while it’s main disadvantage is, it was too simple that writing using QuickPress become very unfriendly thing.
However I notice that there is one thing that you could do with QuickPress and it could improve your blogging efficiency level, it is to save draft ASAP, if you are on a hurry, using QuickPress is one marvelous way to input your idea on future blogpost, anyway this blogpost was written in Quickpress first.
However, i think in the future it is best to add some functionality with QuickPress. My request are the three font formatting button (bold, italic and underline), and numbering button.
What about you, any idea ?

It’s good for typing a quick draft. But theres no option to choose a category?
Adding the font formatting, methinks will take away from the concept of a ‘quick press’ – it has to be light and quick.

nice thought, agree to Naeem, category is better, however i think if WP develop kind of dropdown font selector button it would be nice, thx Naeem
I did not know about WordPress 2.7. Luckily, my webhosting provider has it all setup for me automatically via Fantastico so I was able to run my newly launched site DollarMirror.com on WordPress 2.7. And yeah, I was able to enjoy the QuickPress features and everything else. Amazing WordPress though I also encountered some minor glitches. I will tackle that in my next post about WordPress. But still, WordPress is the best blogging platform for me.

I never use wp2.7. What the advantage of WP.2.7
i’m not a WP expert, but from its functionality, i could tell that 2.7:
1. have a great interface compare to it’s predecessor (i like it’s dropdown style)
2. implement some of plugin functionality in it’s core instalation such as easy gravatar, etc
3. new dashboard (many new “shortcut” functionality).
Plugins are really for third party piece of codes. I mean, the core is the core. It is great to make it modular but keep in mind the incredible rythm of releases… This year, 2.5, 2.6 and 2.7. How many software editors release 3 major releases per year? Not a lot…
My feeling is also that integrating a plugin feature into the core is a way to acknowledge its effectiveness. Some of your plugins would definitely have their place in the core from my point of view…
